Venus:
Fraternal Twins
The
planet Venus is nearly Earth's twin in size and gravity, but very different in
its atmosphere and climate. It is an interesting target for future space
probes, but with a temperature of 450°C, atmospheric pressure ninety times
higher than the Earth's, and a constantly cloud-covered sky, the surface of
Venus is one of the most hostile environments in the solar system. Can
we explore Venus? This talk will review missions to Venus, and talk
about possible future concepts for exploration.
