The Solar Probe Plus is a spacecraft with a difficult mission: to probe the corona of the sun. To do this, it will
use Venus’ gravity sling shots to skim to a distance within nine solar radii (4 million miles) of the sun's surface.
This is a challenging environment for operation of a spacecraft, especially for the power system, which must
continue to generate power even in the high-temperature environment near the surface of the sun. In his talk
Dr. Landis will describe the mission and the approach taken to the power system design.
